MOUNTAIN BIKING

Mountain Biking

There is only one word to describe mountain biking in Moab, EPIC!

From the heights of the Whole Enchilada to the world-famous Slickrock trail, there
is no place like Moab for mountain biking.

Easy Mountain Biking

Moab Canyon Pathway

Right from town there are easy paved biking paths.

On the east side of the town along 191, there is a path that leads north towards the Colorado River.

From this path you can cross the river and head up towards Arches and the Bar M trails or turn right at the Colorado river and ride along the river towards the end of the Porcupine Rim trail.

The ride across the river, up the Moab Canyon Pathway takes you right past Arches and then climbs up to Bar M.

Mountain Biking

The two best trails for those wanting to get off the paved paths, but onto trails that aren't extreme are Bar M and Dead Horse Point State Park.

The Bar M mountain bike trails are close to town, have lots of parking and are just off of 191.  They can be done as a loop or there is a fun bike playground right next to the parking lot.

It will take you 45 minutes to drive up to the trails, but they are super fun and the views are like no other trail in the world.  Take a camera and a drone if you you've got one!

Advanced
Mountain Biking

My two favorite trail systems for mountain biking in Moab are the Slickrock Trail and Magnificent 7.

Riding Slickrock NEVER gets old!  This classic loop has so many fun sections and challenging hills it keeps you coming back for more!

Magnificent 7
From Getaway, to Arths, to Bull Run to 7-up this trail system has it all.  Technical, flowy, beautiful views, you just can't beat it.  For a quick break, stop at Gemini Bridges.

If you want a full day of extreme mountain biking don't miss the Whole Enchilada!  Don't forget to eat a real enchilada at El Charro Loco at the end of the day!

The best way to experience the Whole Enchilada is via one of the shuttle companies in town.

Take food, water and a full suspension bike as this ride will kick your butt!  After a quick climb it is pretty much downhill the whole way.  By the time I finished the Porcupine Rim I was done, but you still have a short ride into town, so leave a little in the gas tank!

Expect this ride to take all day!  Yes, it was THAT steep!

The White Rim Trail

If you've got 3-4 days and want a memorable adventure, ride the 100 mile White Rim Trail.  I've done this one eight times and it is different every time.  Musselman's arch, Hog's Back, the slot canyon and rinsing off in the Green River are experiences that you'll never forget!

The best way to do this one is with a touring company.  It takes lots of planning, permits, etc. but it is worth it!

Give Rim Tours or Western Spirit Cycling Adventures a call to plan out this epic mountain bike adventure!
