THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL

The location of Moab means that each and every season here comes with its own distinct benefits. For many visitors, that offers the opportunity to make several visits a year, and enjoy distinctly different experiences.

Regardless of the season you visit in, make sure you prepare yourself accordingly.

If you’re coming in the summer, make sure you always bring lots of water as Moab's weather is a dry heat with a few days over 100 °F/32°C

Early spring or late fall, the temperatures are perfect from 70°-80°F and 21°-26°C, but bring a jacket as the evenings can be chilly.

In the winter time, you'll escape the crowds but you'll want to bundle up.  The average high is 43°F/6°C.

CLIMATE

SNOWFALL
Snow in Moab is rare, but because the La Sal Mountains at 12,721 ft/3877 m above sea level gets a lot  snow making for some epic backcountry runs.  Be sure to check the avalanche forecast before heading up the mountain.
RAINFALL
Rainfall is scarce in Moab except during the monsoonal season in August.  Stay out of any slot canyons if there is any threat of rain.  Flash floods in slot canyons are deadly. The winds Moab can be strong, so come prepared.
